Anahuac NWR (UTC 049)
Refuge Trails are open seven days a week from one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset. Access to the bay and boat ramps are open 24 hours. No fee.

Birding
The tract combines both active and fallow rice fields and a 0.75 mile trail along wooded East Bay Bayou. Spring and Fall tract is good for migrant songbirds and shorebirds. Winter rice fields can hold significant waterfowl.

2.5 mile loop around a shallow impoundment, driving access only

Suggested Birding Routes
Start at #Cedar Hill Park at park at sunrise, pre-sunrise this is a good site for Eastern Screech Owl and Barred Owl.
From Cedar Hill Park go to the Overpass at FM562 and I10. In season this over pass has Barn Swallow, Cliff Swallow, and a few Cave Swallows. From the overpass head for #White Memorial Park.
From White Memorial Park head for #James H. Robbins Park En-route keep and eye out for White-tailed Hawk and Swainson's Hawk
From Robbins Park head for #Anahuac NWR (UTC 049). Bird the refuge thoroughly
In the spring save some time to explore the roads north of Anahuac NWR for flooded rice fields for shorebirds.
This route should yield 100 species in all seasons.
