So you have 100 species in your home county and a few surrounding ones. You've birded the Upper Texas Coast, the Coastal Bend, and the Rio Grande Valley. You done the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. Now what? You still need a lot of counties to reach that goal of 100 counties.
Texas Parks and Wildlife's Great Texas Wildlife Trails (GTWT) offer you a guide to hundreds of birding sites in 80% of the state.
The GTWT are divided in to four sections, Great Texas Birding Trails, Heart of Texas Wildlife Trails, Panhandle Wildlife Trail, and the Prairies and Pineywoods Wildlife Trail. Texas Parks and Wildlife makes the site guide and maps available online through their website. Or you can purchase the maps through the Texas Extension Agrilife Bookstore or by calling 888-900-2577. There are eight maps in all.
